Remembrance Day - Least we forget
Every November, our country comes together to observe Remembrance Day. It’s a time to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the armed forces and gave their lives for our freedom.
Today, HAO will join the nation in a one-minute silence to reflect and pay our respects.
Why the poppy?
The red poppy became a symbol of remembrance after World War I because these flowers were among the first to bloom on the battlefields of Flanders. Their resilience in the midst of devastation represents hope and renewal, while their red colour reminds us of the blood shed by those who fought for peace.
Quote to reflect on:
"At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them." – Laurence Binyon
