A few subs and some calm heads prevailed, and the next 5 minutes belonged to HAO. A penalty awarded that Solomon dispatched comfortably to make it 5-4 to HAO. The team held on for the final 2 minutes to take the win. A close and very tense game but still a victory for HAO. pic.twitter.com/hJ9t9snn5a

The second half started with confidence, precision and good decision making as HAO went up to 4-0 by the 50th minute. However, upped their game and something shifted as they clearly dug deep, bringing the score to a nail biting 4-4, and only minutes left. pic.twitter.com/5h35Z1XkyE

Governance & Scheme of Delegation (Academies)

Within England there are over 300,000 school/academy governors, who together form the largest volunteer force in the country. Governors perform a strategic role and carry out key functions such as:

  • Discussing and setting the aims and objectives for the academy
  • Setting the required policies and targets for achieving those aims and objectives
  • Monitoring and evaluating the progress that the academy is making towards its set aims and objectives.

Governors are also ‘critical friends’ to the Principal, providing challenge and support.

Our Governors

The academy is a member of the Harris Federation. Ultimate responsibility for the academy rests with the Board of Trustees of the Federation (see the Federation's governance details and scheme of delegation), but much of the work of the Board is delegated to the local Governing Body which comprises of the governors of the academy. Some governors are appointed by the Federation whilst others are elected by parents or guardians of students at the academy or by staff.

The Chair of Governors is Ms Janice Tomlinson, who can be contacted via the Clerk to the Governing Body or via the Academy's address - Harris Academy Orpington, Tintagel Road, Orpington, Kent, BR5 4LG.  The Clerk to the Governing Body at Harris Academy Orpington can be contacted via email at ClerktoGovernors@harrisorpington.org.uk

You can also see details on Harris Academy Orpington's Governing Body on the Get Information About Schools Website - by clicking the link here.
