1 month ago today we welcomed back our staff and students  as we all returned to school. It's been a busy couple of weeks, but we say thank you to all our visitors attending our open events...

It’s the end of the evening and our catering student volunteers have some treats as they leave for home…yummy! Thank you to everyone that joined us tonight. Don’t forget we have another open morning tomorrow if you haven’t already signed up.

Please see the sport enrichment and clubs being run this term at HAO. There is a mix of lunchtime and after-school activities that students are welcome to attended. We are hoping to expand our propgramme and offer more clubs in the near future and will keep you updated

The start of term is well and truly underway with all year groups having now completed their first full week back. It has been great to welcome our new Y7 cohort and some new faces to our staff team this September.

A massive congratulation to our 2025 Y11 cohort who received their results today. HAO saw another fantastic set of results, with an increase from last year in the number of students achieving a 5 or above in both Maths and English. shorturl.at/Yhyyi

Meet Our Principal

 

Mr Richard Carey, Principal

Richard Carey

Richard is an experienced Senior leader having taught for over 20 years and  taking on various leadership roles within the Harris Federation for 11 years.

Richard was responsible for setting up a brand new Academy in East Dulwich which was deemed “outstanding” in its most recent Ofsted inspection.  He then utilised his experience to assist with the opening of Harris Academy Garrard in Bexley.  Richard has a passion for student welfare, and feels that all students must have the opportunity for a great academic education, develop their wider understanding of a modern Britain and become well-rounded young adults in the process.

As a local resident, he is fully aware of the need for a great school, serving the local community and welcomes any feedback from parents and carers.

Richard was appointed as the Head of Academy in Easter 2019, and then to Principal in Autumn 2025, and is exceptionally proud of all the students and their achievements.
