Head Boy and Head Girl appointments for 2020-21

Congratulations to Year 12 pupils, Luke and Deya who have been appointed the prestigious titles of Head Boy and Head Girl for the next academic year.

Luke comments: “I am really looking forward to setting up student voice and making sure there is a permanent place where students can raise concerns and have their ideas about school life heard. I am also looking forward to helping create many new clubs within the academy, along with helping out members of the school community in any way I can. I applied for the role because I have always tried to help out around school wherever I can and I enjoy being involved in school.  Being a passionate member of past student councils, I have always wanted to make sure that student voice would be a central part of the school community".

Deya comments: "I am looking forward to supporting the younger students through our Student Council. This would allow myself and the Head Boy to be the connection between the leadership team and the pupils. I am eager to help our school in any way possible, as it continues to help me improve and succeed. In applying for the role of Head Girl, I hope that I am able to show and develop my personal skills, while supporting the school and its student body".

This year we had such strong candidates who each have unprecedented talent so to reflect this we have also made the decision to appoint a Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl. Congratulations to William and Jona.

Jona comments: "As deputy, I am looking forward to working with the senior leaders of this school and especially the head girl and boy as together we will work together to show how important this academy is to us." Will adds: "I am looking forward to being a part of the leadership group next year, and hopefully to make a difference in the school with the help of all our students."

All four pupils were awarded their roles after undergoing a rigorous application process, including virtual hustings and interviews with Mr Astin, Mr Carey, Mr Lewis and Mrs Harrison. All students performed amazingly throughout the entire process.

We are confident that they will ensure that the positive changes which they spoke so passionately about in their applications and in the interview, process will be implemented. Well done to you all!
