This week HAO proudly took part in National Science Week, embracing this year’s inspiring theme: “Curiosity – What’s Your Question?” We believe every great idea begins with a question. So we ask our whole community: What’s your question? Video

The End of an Era – The Start of Everything

As we reach the end of the external exam season, this week has been a truly proud and poignant moment for our school community as we say farewell to our Year 13 students. It marks the end of an era, but the start of everything - a time to reflect on achievements, celebrate friendships, and look ahead with excitement to the future.

Our Year 13 farewell afternoon was a fitting tribute to a remarkable two years. It was an opportunity to recognise not only academic success, but also the resilience, character, and camaraderie that have defined this cohort.

We also extend our very best wishes to our Year 11 students as they completed their GCSE journey. Thursday evening provided a highlight of the week, as prom night finally arrived. It was a long day for many, but one filled with laughter, celebration, and memorable moments. Friendship groups gathered together for what was maybe their final large dance off as a year group, with staff joining in to celebrate alongside them. With exams now behind them, students can look forward to a well-deserved summer break.
Not to be forgotten, celebrating a day later, to not take away form the Year 11s, Friday gave us the opportunity to celebrate Thank a Teacher Day - though, as we fondly refer to it, Thank a Staff Member Day. The week closed with a mini afternoon shout-out celebration, where certificates were shared and appreciation flowed freely. Staff were inundated with thank-yous from colleagues, parents and students alike. None more so than the wonderful Ms Francis, whose impressive stack of messages even left the Principal a little envious - site team, we may need to consider lifting support next time!

We look ahead to welcoming both Year 11 and Year 13 back during the summer holidays for their respective results days, and we very much hope to see many of our Year 11 students return to continue their journey with us in the sixth form.

We are incredibly proud of all our students and wish them every success as they step into their next chapter, with a memorable summer ahead.

A few more weeks with mocks for many of our other year groups, but we are not winding down just yet! As the heat wave approaches, we have another attendance head-to-head just around the corner, and an 'own clothes day' for charity.

Watch this space!
