HAO Y8 and Y9 vs Babington House for the Win!

The football season is very much underway!

Year 8's

It had all started with drama early in the first half with an 'oh no' moment due to a lapse in concentration and complacency costing HAO dearly as they started from behind! The crowd fell silent, but the boys didn’t give up, though. They dug deep, showing grit and patience, fighting for every ball, every inch of the pitch. They worked hard, stayed patient and time continued to tick away, and then... late in the second half, their persistence paid off. Jesse struck from out wide with a brilliant finish to level the score! Game on!

They kept pressing, piling on the pressure, relentless in their attacks. Then came the moment... Adejola threaded a superb pass to Jesse - he’s through!. His first effort was saved as the keeper got a hand to it, but he followed up and buried the rebound, smashing it home. 2-1! Absolute scenes!

And just when we thought it was over, drama in the dying seconds! Babington House was awarded a penalty in the final action of the game! The tension was unbearable. Hayden P stood tall between the posts. The shot came in -SAVED! Incredible! Hayden had denied them their final chance to equalize! The whistle blew, and that was it!

A heroic performance, a comeback for the ages, and the win was sealed!

Year 9's

What a rollercoaster it had been! The game started slowly, with both sides making mistakes but also carving out chances. HAO looked the more composed, creating the better opportunities, but they just couldn’t find that clinical edge to put the ball in the back of the net. Eventually, the team settled down, started moving the ball well, and played some great football - getting into the right areas and making smarter decisions. Then came the breakthrough! Tyler B slotted the ball home to make it 1-0, and that goal opened the floodgates.

Confidence surged through the team as they zipped the ball around the pitch, adding two more goals to go 3-1 up. One of those was an absolute stunner - a volley from Tyler, just inside the opponent’s half! But in typical HAO fashion, complacency crept in. The team switched off and Babington House clawed their way back, leveling the score at 3-3. Unbelievable but well deserved for the opposing team.

After a rallying cry from the sidelines, HAO roared back into action. Tyler B wasn’t done yet - he bagged his fourth goal of the match to make it 4-3! But once again the drama wasn’t over. In the dying seconds, Babington House were awarded a penalty. Hearts were in mouths... surely the game was gone? Step forward Freddie B! He pulled off a heroic save in the last play of the match to seal the win.

What a game!

Well done to both teams!
