High Performance Roadshow - 8th May 2025
Some of our Y12 students attended a High Performance Roadshow event for schools.
Six students from HAO attended the live filming of a podcast episode, The Game Plan Roadshow, where they got to hear from inspirational individuals with great success in their fields. The event, aimed specifically at young people to inspire them and build resilience and mental health strength, was enjoyed by all.
Hosted by Jake Humphrey, the event featured panel discussions and interactive activities aimed to develop the skills, resilience and mental strengths needed for the workplace.
There was an award ceremony at the end of the talk, with a possible six awards. Students could be nominated by their school for displaying certain characteristics, such as confidence and resilience. Two of these awards went to Harris students and one, to our very own Shyanne for 'responsibility'. Congratulations Shyanne!
Shayanne said of the experience:
The six of us who attended the live filming of the podcast episode had a great time hearing from inspirational individuals with great success in their fields. My main takeaway of the event was to project your marketable qualities by putting yourself out there, whether or not you're interested in social media. There will be people you need to collaborate with and appeal to, to reach certain positions in life...
We heard from the likes of Elz the Witch (online gamer and TV presenter), Leomie Anderson (model and Entrepreneur) and Chris Bacon (CEO of Rutter), who shared motivational stories that I found relatable, which pushed me to reflect on the personable nature of being a good speaker.
To my surprise I was presented with one of the six High Performance characteristics awards ‘Responsibility’ and found value in giving myself recognition for achievements as I go through life.
