Every November, our country comes together to observe Remembrance Day. It’s a time to honour the courage & sacrifice of those who served in the armed forces & gave their lives for our freedom. Today, HAO will join the nation in a one-minute silence to reflect & pay our respects.

Pearson National Teaching Awards - Silver Winner

We are so excited and proud to announce that our amazing Miss Gonzales has been awarded the Silver Award for Teacher of the Year in the Secondary category.

Please do congratulate Miss Gonzales for what is a tremendous achievement as each category has thousands of entrants but only 6 winners, and though we may be slightly biased here, we agree Miss Gonzales is fully deserving of this incredible recognition.

As noted by Ms Matthews who nominated her:

“The word ‘inspirational’ is often thrown around in education but that is what Patrice as Head of History really is. She has excelled in creating an environment where all students aspire to achieve and have a genuine love of subject ... Patrice’s dedication, resilience and unwavering commitment to uphold the values of the Academy are seen well beyond the reach of the history classroom…Patrice is an outstanding practitioner, leader, life-long learner and role model within the history community and that makes her a worthy winner for The Award for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School”.

As part of this award, Miss Gonzalez will join all other Silver Award winners at a celebratory afternoon tea and to the UK Ceremony. Silver Winners are also finalists for the Gold Award in their category, but we won’t hear anything further on this until November 203 - so watch this space!
