Draft Admissions Arrangements
7th November 2016
Harris Academy Orpington – Admissions Consultation
The Governing Body are consulting on proposals to make changes to the admissions arrangements with effect from the 2018/19 year of entry.
The Academy is proposing to reduce the Published Admission Number from 224 to 180. This is because 180 is a much more efficient intake to organise than 224, allowing 6 classes of 30 in some or 7 classes of 25 or 26 in other practical subjects. Intakes have not exceeded 180 in recent years at the School and most Harris Academies are organised with intakes of 180.
It is not proposed to change any of the criteria for entry used to decide who is admitted if the academy is oversubscribed. These stay the same.
The Governing Body is also consulting on the admissions criteria to its sixth form – offering a minimum of 30 places and specifying the new GCSE grades required for entry to courses.
If you have any comments on these proposals please write by Monday 19th December to Helen Rumble, PA to the Head of School, at the Academy address; or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
