Our year 8's were exposed to a wide range of workshops yesterday including the Fire Brigade, Police, Youth Valour, Youth Offending Service, Blue Cross and on domestic violence. All students found the sessions thoroughly engaging and were grateful to all the fantastic speakers.

Applicants to Harris Academy Orpington Sixth Form for 2018-19 will attain the required entry-level standard. These are:

3 A Level / Vocational Level 3 Combination

 

Vocational Level 3 subjects

Seven 9 - 5 grades in full course GCSE subjects. No vocational subjects allowed,

 

Combination of five 9 - 4 grades at GCSE or merit or above in vocational subjects.

 

Five 9-4 grades at GCSE or equivalent, with at least a merit or grade 4 in a relevant vocational qualification or GCSE.

 

A Levels require a grade 6 in a relevant GCSE subject. ECDL suitable for entry to vocational courses only. Extended writing A Level subject students will need a combination of at least grades 4 and 5 in English Language and English Literature.

General information

Maths

Any student wishing to study A Level Maths from a GCSE grade 6 will have to pass an algebra test to assess their suitability for the course.

English Literature

Students will need a combination of at least grade 5 and 6 in English Language and English Literature.

Science Based Subjects

Students taking GCSE Double Award Science must have at least a grade 6 for Core and Additional Science, as well as a grade 6 or above in relevant subject modules.

Students taking GCSE Separate Sciences must have at least a grade 6 overall in the relevant Science subject, as well as at least two grade 6s in relevant subject modules.

For Vocational Science a grade 5 will be needed in Double Award Science.

 

Resit English GCSE

Students who have not achieved a grade 4 or above in either English Language or Literature will be required to resit English Language GCSE.

Resit Maths GCSE

Students who have not achieved a grade 4 or above will need to resit their Maths GCSE.

 

Enrolment from the age of 17/18 is at the discretion of the Head of Sixth Form who will take into account the students most recent academic results. In most cases students will only be accepted onto vocational level 3 courses if there are exceptional circumstances.
