Emma writes about a project she helped with in Uganda during August 2019, living there for two and a half weeks.

When I was in Uganda I helped in a primary school in the village of Kabubbu. In Uganda the children have to pay to go to school, which really opened my eyes as we don't have to pay for schooling in the UK.

We also helped teach them about posting letters. My group also helped to paint new houses for the teachers in the school. We helped on a farm nearby and did some agriculture.

We also helped one family for three days - first we went to visit them to see the conditions they lived in, then we decided what we wanted to buy for them with the £100 that we had been given. After we had brought the toiletries, a wheelbarrow, a chicken and a dress for the wife, we went back to give them to the family and that night we donated a dinner to the family. 

In our last few days we went to Queen Elizabeth Park for a safari, where we saw the animals in their natural habitat. Which was an amazing experience.

The trip to Uganda really made a difference to all of us who went. It also makes me appreciate everything I have so much more and I don't take anything for granted anymore.

Thanks to all my leaders and all the help I had with fundraising. I would love to return to Uganda one day and I have already sent some letters (via the Quicken Trust) to the children I met in the village.
