Students at Harris Academy Orpington Celebrate GCSE Success

Students at Harris Academy Orpington are today celebrating their GCSE results with strong performances by many students. The percentage of students achieving good passes in English and Maths are at an all-time high and we could not be happier for our students!

Additionally, 42% gained the prestigious and demanding Ebacc, with GCSE passes in English, Maths, science, a humanity and a language.

Amongst those celebrating were:

  • Shane who achieved two ‘super’ Grade 9s and six 8s – equivalent to straight A*s and A**s;
  • Joao who achieved a Grade 9, six 8s and a 7 – equivalent to straight As, A*s and A**s;
  • Oscar who achieved three Grade 9s, two 8s, two 7s and a 6;
  • Hannah who achieved three Grade 9s three 8s, a 7 and a 6.

All four will return to the Academy in September to join its Sixth Form provision.

Congratulating the students, Richard Carey, Head of Academy, said:

“Everyone at Harris Academy Orpington is delighted for our Year 11 students. Their success today is testament to their hard work and dedication and the support they have received from staff through the challenges caused by the pandemic.

“We are thrilled that such a large proportion of the year group gained the prestigious and demanding Ebacc qualification, which will set them up to achieve great success in their A Levels and beyond.

“We look forward to welcoming them back in September as they move on to studying for A Levels and vocational qualifications which will continue their path to an excellent future”.
